So you’re putting in the time to make all this fabulous content, but not seeing profitable results- what gives? Here’s a few insights as to why your customers might shop elsewhere:

  1. It’s all about you

We’ll preach this till the cows come home: it’s all about your customers and what your business can do for them! After all, that’s why they’re coming to you- so you can fix THEIR problem or fill THEIR needs.

  2. Your content isn't helpful

According to recent trends, users research businesses before buying from them more than ever. They want to see content that educates, informs, and/or entertains them. This shows your business puts effort into your content, and will put effort into them as a customer.

  3. You’re not sourcing correctly

When sharing information, always double-check your sources! Companies who share info that proves incorrect/misinformed are seen as less trustworthy than someone who shares truthful/correct information.

  4. You don’t seek out discomfort

If your content is always bland and has no opinion, customers won’t remember you when looking to buy. Stand out from your competition by sharing relevant and interesting information.

  5. There is no “Call To Action”

A Call To Action is the thing you want your customers to ultimately do- purchase from you, book an appointment, schedule a meeting, etc. ALWAYS include a Call to Action when communicating with your customers. This could be a link to your website, a phone number to call, or an email address to send to.

GENIUS MOMENT: “You can still dunk in the dark”

An incredible example of the right marketing at the right time happened during the 2013 Super Bowl. A massive power outage caused a stadium-wide blackout. Thinking on their feet, Oreo tweeted out a simple “You can still dunk in the dark.”

This genius move led to 15,000 retweets, 8,000 new Twitter followers, 20,000 Facebook likes, and 34,000 new Instagram followers. It definitely pays to take a marketing opportunity and run with it!
